But the water resistant laminate floor contains waterproof material in the core layer. Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. Steam mops create too much moisture for laminate floors which are often manufactured with a compressed fiber particleboard layers. It may take several passes to get the floor clean but the mop is safer for your floors.

For steam cleaning tile floors or your laminate mix the water rubbing alcohol and vinegar in a mixing bowl and then add in the dishwashing soap. Use a spoon to combine all ingredients and then pour the vinegar cleaning solution into your mop. Also check the pad on your steam cleaner. Use a steam mop occasionally for a very deep clean.

For deeper cleaning you can use a steam mop very sparingly on laminate floors. You can use a window cleaner occasionally for spills but don t over use ammonia which can strip protective sealant. Clean the floor routinely to remove dirt and dust by sweeping vacuuming or damp wiping. For this type of floor you can steam clean it occasionally.

For a deeper cleaning use a damp cotton cloth or cloth mop. Never allow liquids to stand on your floor. Avoid oil based cleaners as they can leave streaks that are impossible to get rid of. Laminate floor containing laminate planks are not suitable for steam clean because moisture can quickly go through this floor and damage it easily.

Laminate isn t as strong as other flooring options and it s easily damaged by devices like steam cleaners buffers and polishers. For tough spots such as oil paint markers lipstick ink or tar use acetone nail polish remover on a clean white cloth. The steam can cause swelling and warping of the product. Be sure to dry the floor immediately after steam cleaning with a clean dry microfiber cloth or mop.

Always remove grit sharp objects staining agents moisture or aggressive substances from the floor. However the intense heat and moisture it uses to get the job done can also wreak havoc on the adhesive used on your laminate floors.
